How to Buy Jupiter (JUP) and Avoid Fake Jupiter Sites

How to Buy Jupiter (JUP) and Avoid Fake Jupiter Sites

“Jupiter” means two things on Solana: the JUP governance token and the Jupiter swap app. Scammers exploit the overlap by cloning both. So how to buy Jupiter safely starts with a check that you’re dealing with the real thing. You can buy JUP on exchanges such as Kraken, Binance.US, Gemini and Coinbase (where the ticker shows as JUPITER) as of October 2026. Or you can swap SOL for it inside the real Jupiter app. Either way, confirm the mint, JUPyiwrYJFskUPiHa7hkeR8VUtAeFoSYbKedZNsDvCN, and make sure you’re on the genuine site before connecting a wallet.

  • JUP is an SPL token on Solana. Coinbase lists it as “JUPITER,” because its older “JUP” ticker belongs to an unrelated, now-delisted Ethereum token.
  • Robinhood’s US app shows JUP as watch-only. Bitstamp (owned by Robinhood) does list JUP/USD.
  • Fake Jupiter sites usually push “airdrop claims” or “eligibility checks.” The real app never needs your seed phrase.
  • In February 2026, JUP holders voted to postpone Jupuary and pause team-reserve emissions under a “net-zero emissions” plan.
  • Staked JUP has a 7-day unstaking cooldown and earns quarterly Active Staking Rewards, according to Jupiter’s docs.

JUP the token vs Jupiter the DEX

Searches like “jupiter dex” and “jupiter solana” usually come from people looking for the app. Jupiter started as Solana’s main swap aggregator, routing trades across Raydium, Orca, Meteora and dozens of other venues. It has since added perpetuals, limit orders, a launchpad and a mobile wallet. Our Jupiter overview covers the product line and token history. The JUP token is separate. It’s used for governance votes and staking rewards, and you don’t need it to use the app.

If you want… You need
To swap tokens on Solana cheaply The Jupiter app plus SOL in a Solana wallet. No JUP required
Exposure to Jupiter’s governance token JUP, from an exchange or by swapping in the app
To vote or earn staking rewards JUP held in a self-custody wallet and staked in Jupiter’s governance contract

Other tokens named “Jupiter” exist on other chains, including the delisted Ethereum token Coinbase still shows as JUP. CoinGecko lists a JUP deployment on Unichain as well. The Solana mint above is the original and has the deepest liquidity. If you’re unsure, compare against the mint, not the name.

How to buy Jupiter (JUP) on an exchange

Each listing was checked against the exchange’s asset page or CoinGecko’s market data in October 2026. We compared venues on US availability, the Solana withdrawal network, and fees published on their fee pages. This isn’t a ranking.

Buying is the easy part; sizing the position is harder. Our Jupiter price prediction walks through scenario ranges for 2026, 2027 and 2030 and the metrics that would move them.

Exchange Ticker / market US customers
Coinbase JUPITER/USD (Solana mint JUPy…DvCN) Yes
Kraken JUP/USD, JUP/EUR Subject to state rules
Binance.US JUP/USD, JUP/USDT States it serves
Gemini JUP/USD Yes
Bitstamp by Robinhood JUP/USD, JUP/EUR Yes (separate from the Robinhood app)
Robinhood app Watch-only Not tradable
Binance, OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, Upbit JUP spot pairs No (OKX US separate)

On Coinbase in particular, search “Jupiter” and confirm the asset page shows the Solana mint starting JUPy. The old “JUP” asset there is an Ethereum token, and it’s marked delisted. When withdrawing from any exchange, select the Solana network and paste a Solana address, the kind Phantom, Solflare or Jupiter Mobile shows.

Swapping SOL for JUP on Jupiter

If you already hold SOL in a Solana wallet, buying JUP on-chain takes a minute:

  1. Open the genuine app (see the next section), connect your wallet, and make sure some SOL stays unspent for fees.
  2. Choose SOL → JUP. Check that the output token shows the verified badge and the mint JUPy…DvCN.
  3. Ultra mode or manual settings. Jupiter’s default “Ultra” swap mode handles routing, slippage and transaction landing for you. Manual mode lets you set slippage yourself. For a liquid token like JUP, tight slippage usually works.
  4. Review the quote, including price impact and any platform fee shown, then approve in your wallet. Read the wallet’s transaction preview, which shows what you’ll send and receive.

If you’d rather not buy all at once, Jupiter’s app also offers trigger (limit) orders, which fill only if JUP reaches your price, and recurring orders that split a purchase into scheduled buys. Both keep your funds in an on-chain program until they execute, and both charge fees shown in the interface. Read those before you set an order and forget about it.

Phantom and Solflare also have built-in swap screens that may route through Jupiter. Our Phantom wallet review explains its swap fees and security warnings. The first time you receive JUP, the wallet creates a token account, which costs a tiny SOL rent deposit.

Fake Jupiter sites and how they drain wallets

The query “jupiter dex juphub” shows how this happens. People search loose names and land on clones. Security scanners have flagged lookalike domains impersonating Jupiter, fake airdrop pages hosted on free web hosts, a fake “Jupiter Wallet” extension that asks for a seed phrase, and spam “CJUP” tokens airdropped into wallets with links to claim sites. How the theft usually works:

  • Malicious signatures. The clone asks you to sign a transaction labelled as a “claim” or “verification.” It actually transfers your tokens or grants control of your token accounts.
  • Seed-phrase capture. Fake wallet extensions and “sync” pages ask for your recovery phrase. The real Jupiter never does.
  • Sponsored search results and social replies. Ads and replies under official posts point to clones.

How to verify the real site:

  1. Get the domain from two sources you already trust, for example the official website link on Jupiter’s CoinGecko page and Jupiter’s verified X account. At the time of writing the main app is at jup.ag. Check it yourself rather than taking any page’s word for it, including ours.
  2. Bookmark it and only use the bookmark.
  3. Be suspicious of anything urgent, such as a “claim ends in 1 hour” countdown.
  4. If you connected to a clone, move remaining funds to a new wallet and revoke token permissions. Then report the domain to your wallet provider and, if money was lost, to the FBI’s IC3 (in the US) or your national fraud agency.

Staking JUP and Jupuary

Staking. Staking JUP in Jupiter’s governance contract gives you voting power and makes you eligible for Active Staking Rewards, which Jupiter’s docs say are paid each quarter based on time-weighted stake. Unstaking starts a 7-day cooldown that can’t be skipped. You can keep voting during the cooldown or cancel it. Reward sizes and eligibility rules change by quarter, so check the current terms before staking.

Jupuary and emissions. Jupuary was Jupiter’s annual January airdrop. The 2025 round paid out, and in June 2025 the team paused DAO votes, citing a breakdown in trust. In February 2026, holders approved a “net-zero emissions” package with about 75% support. It postponed Jupuary indefinitely, returned the roughly 700 million JUP set aside for it to a community multisig, and paused team-reserve releases. Jupiter also points to past burns and to using part of its revenue for buybacks. Check the governance forum for the latest status, because these settings have changed several times.

Staking is only possible from a self-custody Solana wallet. JUP held on an exchange can’t vote, and exchange “earn” products for JUP, where they exist, are separate programs with their own terms.

Supply. CoinGecko shows a 10 billion JUP maximum, about 6.9 billion total after burns, and about 3.3 billion circulating. The gap between circulating and total supply is worth watching even with emissions paused.

FAQ

Where to buy JUP in the US?

As of October 2026, US customers can buy JUP on Coinbase (listed as JUPITER), Kraken, Binance.US, Gemini and Bitstamp, subject to state availability. From 1 February 2027, Bitstamp by Robinhood accounts can no longer open new positions (selling and withdrawing still work), and Robinhood is moving customers to its main app. The Robinhood app shows JUP as watch-only. You can also swap SOL for JUP in the Jupiter app from any self-custody Solana wallet. Offshore exchanges such as Bybit don’t accept US residents.

Is the Jupiter DEX the same as JUP?

No. The Jupiter DEX is the Solana swap aggregator and app suite. JUP is its governance token. You can use the Jupiter app without owning JUP, and holding JUP doesn’t give you a share of trading fees. It gives you voting power and, when staked, eligibility for quarterly Active Staking Rewards under the current rules.

How does JUP staking work?

You lock JUP in Jupiter’s governance contract from a self-custody wallet. Staked JUP counts toward votes and earns Active Staking Rewards each quarter based on time-weighted stake, according to Jupiter’s docs. Unstaking triggers a 7-day cooldown before you can withdraw. Exchange-held JUP can’t be staked in Jupiter’s governance contract.

Is there a Jupuary airdrop in 2026?

Not on the usual schedule. In February 2026, JUP holders voted for a net-zero emissions plan that postponed Jupuary indefinitely and sent the roughly 700 million JUP reserved for it back to a community multisig. Any message promising a Jupuary claim should be treated as a likely phishing attempt until it’s confirmed on Jupiter’s official channels.
