Here is how to stake BNB, three ways. You can delegate it to a BNB Smart Chain validator through BNB Chain’s official staking dApp. You can subscribe it to Binance Simple Earn, which also makes you eligible for Binance’s BNB holder airdrops. Or you can deposit it into a liquid staking protocol such as Lista DAO and get slisBNB back. Native delegation has a 7-day unbonding period, gives you a validator-specific credit token, and keeps your keys in your hands. Binance is easier but custodial. Liquid staking gives you a tradable token with extra smart-contract risk.
Key takeaways
- Since BNB Chain Fusion retired the old Beacon Chain in 2024, BNB staking lives on BNB Smart Chain (BSC) itself and is managed by the StakeHub system contract.
- Each validator issues its own non-transferable staking credit token (named like “st” plus the validator’s moniker). Rewards compound inside it automatically.
- Undelegating starts a 7-day unbonding period. Moving to another validator skips that wait but costs a 0.002% redelegation fee.
- BNB Chain’s slashing rules hit the validator’s self-delegated BNB, which lowers the risk for delegators compared with chains where delegators share penalties.
- Binance Simple Earn counts toward HODLer Airdrops, but the yield and benefits change with each campaign, so check the live terms.
BNB staking after BNB Chain Fusion: what changed
Before 2024, staking BNB meant moving coins to the BNB Beacon Chain, a separate network with its own address format. The BNB Chain Fusion upgrades (the native staking design in BEP-294 and the Beacon Chain sunset in BEP-333, switched on by the Feynman hard fork) moved everything to BNB Smart Chain. In practice that means:
- You stake straight from an ordinary BSC address (starting with 0x) in MetaMask, Trust Wallet or any WalletConnect wallet.
- Delegations run through the StakeHub contract at 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000002002, which you can also call on BscScan if the dApp is down.
- You don’t get a generic “staked BNB” balance. You get staking credits from the validator you chose. BNB Chain’s documentation says each validator issues its own credit, which can’t be transferred between addresses. Its value equals your share of the validator’s pooled BNB, so it grows as the validator earns.
Old Beacon Chain delegations had to be migrated before the sunset. If you still have BNB on a Beacon Chain address (starting with bnb1), look for BNB Chain’s token recovery tool instead of a staking guide. For background on the coin itself, see what is BNB.
Three ways to stake BNB compared
| Native (BSC staking dApp) | Binance Simple Earn | Liquid staking (e.g. slisBNB) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who holds the BNB | You, via the StakeHub contract | Binance | A protocol’s smart contracts |
| What you receive | Validator credit token (non-transferable) | An Earn balance in your account | A transferable LST usable in BSC DeFi |
| Exit | 7-day unbonding, then claim | Flexible: redeem any time. Locked: wait for term end. | Protocol unstake queue (Lista quotes about 7 days) or sell on a DEX |
| Extra perks | None beyond rewards | HODLer Airdrops, plus Launchpool/Megadrop eligibility per campaign rules | DeFi uses: collateral, liquidity pools |
| Main risks | Validator choice, wallet security | Exchange custody, jurisdiction limits | Contract bugs, discount to BNB |
How to stake BNB on BNB Chain step by step
This is native delegation with a self-custody wallet. You’ll need BNB on BNB Smart Chain. If you’re starting from fiat, how to buy BNB covers exchanges. When you withdraw, pick “BSC” or “BNB Smart Chain (BEP20)” as the network.
- Open the official staking dApp from BNB Chain’s website (the BNB Staking page under bnbchain.org). Type the address yourself or use a bookmark, because search ads for “BNB staking” are a known phishing route.
- Connect your wallet. BNB Chain lists MetaMask, Trust Wallet (mainnet) and WalletConnect-compatible wallets. Make sure the wallet is set to BNB Smart Chain.
- Choose a validator. The list shows each validator’s commission, total staked BNB and APR estimate. Check whether it has been jailed recently. Spreading across more than one validator is fine, and each delegation gives you a separate credit token.
- Delegate. Enter the amount and sign. Custodians that support BNB staking cite a 1 BNB minimum, so expect a floor around that, and the dApp will reject anything below it. Keep a little BNB unstaked to pay gas for undelegating later.
- Check “My Staking”. Your delegation appears with its transaction hash. In your wallet you’ll see the validator’s credit token (for example a token whose symbol starts with “st”).
- Let rewards compound. You don’t need to claim anything along the way. The credit token’s BNB value rises as the validator earns, and rewards are paid out together with your principal when you undelegate and claim.
BNB unbonding period and redelegation
To exit, click Undelegate and choose part or all of your position. BNB Chain’s documentation sets a 7-day unbonding period. When it ends, click Claim to receive the BNB and the rewards built into it. To switch validators without waiting, use Redelegate, which charges a 0.002% fee designed to discourage people from hopping between validators. During unbonding the BNB is locked and isn’t working for you, so don’t count on staked BNB being available within the week.
Binance BNB staking: Simple Earn and airdrop eligibility
Most people who search “binance bnb staking” end up in Simple Earn. BNB there isn’t delegated to a validator you pick. Binance manages it and pays a rate it sets. The draw is extra programmes on top of the base rate:
- HODLer Airdrops. Binance distributes some newly listed tokens to users who held BNB in Simple Earn (Flexible or Locked) during a retroactive snapshot window. Recent campaigns also counted BNB in On-Chain Yields products and capped any single user’s share of the pool (one 2026 campaign capped it at 4%).
- Launchpool and Megadrop. Coverage of 2025 campaigns reported that Simple Earn BNB balances stayed eligible for these. The rules change from campaign to campaign.
- Conditions. You need a verified account in an eligible jurisdiction, and Binance doesn’t publish a fixed list of eligible countries. US residents can’t use Binance.com.
Our Binance staking guide maps the full Earn menu, including ETH and SOL products. The short version for BNB is that Simple Earn makes sense if airdrops matter to you, while native staking makes sense if keeping your own keys matters more.
slisBNB and BNB liquid staking
Liquid staking pools your BNB across several validators and gives you a token that represents the position. The biggest one is Lista DAO’s slisBNB. At the end of 2025 Lista described slisBNB as earning base staking rewards while staying usable as collateral and liquidity across BSC DeFi, including DEXs such as PancakeSwap. Other providers have offered BNB LSTs as well. Check each one’s audits and how much is staked with it before choosing.
Going in is a single deposit. Getting out is where people get caught. Integrations documenting Lista’s process describe a 7-day unstaking period before you can claim BNB from its stake manager, and a BNB Chain case study mentioned 7 to 15 days. If you sell slisBNB on a DEX you get out instantly, but at the market rate, which can sit below the redemption value when lots of holders want out at once.
BNB staking rewards and risks
BNB staking rewards on BSC come mostly from transaction fees that validators collect, so they’re relatively modest and move with network activity. The dApp shows each validator’s current APR. Binance shows its own rate, sometimes with a bonus tier for small balances. Neither figure is fixed, and published APYs go stale within days. Check what applies to you at the moment you stake.
The risks to weigh:
- Slashing. BNB Chain’s slash rules take 200 BNB from a validator’s self-delegated stake for double signing or malicious voting and jail it for 30 days. Missing more than 1,000 blocks in 24 hours costs 10 BNB and 2 days in jail. Smaller lapses (over 333 missed blocks) only forfeit block rewards. The docs place penalties on self-stake, but a jailed validator earns you nothing, so you may want to redelegate.
- Centralisation. BSC runs on a relatively small validator set. Splitting stake across independent operators is a small way to help.
- Custody. Simple Earn depends on Binance staying solvent and on whether your country allows access. LSTs depend on contracts holding up.
- Price. A few percent in rewards won’t offset a sharp fall in the BNB price.

FAQ
What is the minimum to stake BNB on BNB Chain?
Custodians that support native BNB staking cite a minimum delegation of 1 BNB, and the staking dApp enforces the current floor when you enter an amount. You’ll also need a small amount of BNB for gas, both to delegate and later to undelegate and claim. Binance Simple Earn and liquid staking protocols set their own minimums, which are usually lower.
How long is the BNB unbonding period?
Native BNB staking has a 7-day unbonding period after you undelegate. After that you click Claim to receive your BNB plus accumulated rewards. Redelegating to another validator avoids the wait but costs a 0.002% fee. Binance Flexible products redeem quickly, Locked products return funds at the end of the term, and slisBNB has its own unstaking queue.
Can I lose BNB by staking natively?
BNB Chain’s rules apply slashing to a validator’s self-delegated BNB, so delegators are mostly exposed to missed rewards when a validator is jailed, not to direct penalties. You can still lose funds through phishing sites, approving malicious contracts or wallet compromise. Always reach the staking dApp from BNB Chain’s official website.
Is slisBNB better than staking BNB on Binance?
They suit different people. slisBNB keeps you on-chain and lets you use staked BNB in DeFi, but it adds smart-contract risk and can trade at a discount. Binance Simple Earn is simpler and includes HODLer Airdrop eligibility, but Binance holds your coins and access depends on where you live.
