Here’s how to bridge to Ronin in one line: use the Ronin Bridge. Since April 2025 it has run on Chainlink’s CCIP messaging network. It moves ETH, USDC, WBTC and gaming tokens such as AXS, SLP and PIXEL from Ethereum (and Base) into a Ronin Wallet. Ronin became an Ethereum layer 2 on the OP Stack on 12 May 2026. Gas is still paid in RON, and the CCIP bridge is still the route players actually use. For RON itself, the simplest path is usually withdrawing from an exchange that supports the Ronin network.
- The Ronin Bridge uses Chainlink CCIP, which validators adopted in October 2024. The migration completed in April 2025.
- CCIP-bridgeable tokens: AXS, SLP, PIXEL, YGG, APRS, LUA, LUAUSD, ANIMA, BANANA, USDC, WETH and WBTC.
- Since the May 2026 L2 migration, gas is still paid in RON. The new OP Stack canonical bridge exists but held no user funds at L2BEAT’s last check.
- Large withdrawals per token have daily caps and need more approvals.
- The 2022 Ronin hack ($625 million) came from compromised validator keys on the old bridge. That design has since been replaced.
What the 2026 L2 migration changed for bridging
Ronin started as Sky Mavis’s sidechain for Axie Infinity. On 12 May 2026, it hard-forked into an Ethereum layer 2 built on the OP Stack, with data posted to EigenDA. L2BEAT classifies it as an Optimium. Here’s what that means if you’re moving tokens:
- RON is still the gas token. Every Ronin transaction, including claiming in-game rewards and listing NFTs, needs a little RON.
- The CCIP Ronin Bridge is still how you move tokens. The migration deployed an OP Stack canonical bridge (OptimismPortal and the standard bridge), but L2BEAT showed no user funds in it at its last snapshot. About $145 million of Ronin’s value is externally bridged, mostly through CCIP.
- Your address and wallet didn’t change. No user migration was required.
Our Ronin explainer covers the chain’s history and tokenomics. The rest of this page is the practical tutorial.
Set up a Ronin Wallet
Ronin Wallet is the standard choice. It comes as a browser extension and a mobile app, and most Ronin games connect to it. Ronin addresses are EVM-style 0x addresses, though Ronin Wallet sometimes displays them with a “ronin:” prefix. When a bridge or exchange asks for a 0x address, swap the prefix for 0x. The characters after it are identical. Back up the recovery phrase offline. Phishing aimed at gamers is common, especially through fake “game support” DMs on Discord.
Crypto gaming tokens bridging tutorial
This is the path most players need: tokens on Ethereum, a game on Ronin.
- Open the Ronin Bridge from Ronin’s official app or website, not from a search ad. Connect MetaMask (or another EVM wallet) for the Ethereum side and Ronin Wallet for the destination.
- Select the token. Choose from the CCIP list: ETH (delivered as WETH on Ronin), USDC, AXS, SLP, PIXEL, YGG and the others. Tokens not on the list can’t use this bridge.
- Approve and send. ERC-20s need an approval transaction, then the bridge transaction. Both are paid in ETH on Ethereum. CCIP charges a message fee, which the bridge shows before you confirm.
- Wait for finality. CCIP waits until the source chain is final before it delivers. On Ethereum, finality usually takes around 15 minutes, so expect a wait of tens of minutes, not seconds.
- Check Ronin Wallet, and make sure you have RON for your next in-game transaction.
Ronin’s support material also lists Base as a CCIP-connected chain, so some tokens may be bridgeable from Base. The bridge interface shows which source chains each token supports.
How to bridge to Ronin: routes by token
| Token | Best route onto Ronin | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| RON | Exchange withdrawal on the Ronin network | RON is Ronin’s native coin. Buy it where you trade. |
| ETH | Ronin Bridge (CCIP) from Ethereum | Arrives as WETH on Ronin, which games and the marketplace use for pricing. |
| USDC | Ronin Bridge (CCIP) | Check the receiving contract matches the USDC listed in Ronin Wallet. |
| AXS | Ronin Bridge, or an exchange that supports AXS on Ronin | Daily withdrawal cap of 500,000 AXS per Ronin’s docs. |
| SLP | Ronin Bridge, or an exchange that supports SLP on Ronin | Daily cap of 2 billion SLP. |
| PIXEL | Ronin Bridge | Daily cap of 300 million PIXEL. |
| WBTC | Ronin Bridge | The CCIP move introduced a new WBTC contract with a 1:1 swap and no deadline. |
Ronin’s withdrawal-limits page sets out tiers: the larger the withdrawal, the more bridge-operator approvals it needs, up to the daily cap per token. Ordinary amounts sit well below these thresholds. Whales and guild treasuries should check the tiers before a big move. For a broader list of play-to-earn tokens and where each one lives, see our guide to crypto gaming tokens.
Exchange withdrawals on the Ronin network
Several large exchanges support the Ronin network for RON, and some also support AXS and SLP. Withdrawing straight to Ronin skips Ethereum gas entirely, which matters when you’re moving small amounts of game tokens. Three checks:
- Choose Ronin as the network, not Ethereum or BNB Chain. AXS and SLP exist on several chains.
- Paste your address in 0x format if the exchange rejects the “ronin:” prefix.
- Confirm that the exchange lists the specific token on Ronin. Support differs between RON, AXS and SLP.
Best aggregator for bridging L2-based gaming coins?
Aggregators such as Jumper (Li.Fi) or Relay are great for moving ETH or stablecoins between general-purpose L2s, and some list Ronin. For game tokens on Ronin specifically, they are often not the best tool. AXS, SLP and PIXEL on Ronin are issued through the CCIP-based bridge, and an aggregator may not support them, or may route through a swap that delivers something else. A reasonable split:
- Use the Ronin Bridge for listed game tokens and for USDC or ETH when you need the canonical version Ronin’s marketplace expects.
- Use an aggregator only to get ETH or USDC from another L2 onto Ethereum or Base first, then bridge into Ronin.
- Use an exchange when it supports the exact token on the Ronin network. For small amounts of SLP or AXS, it’s usually the cheapest option.
Bridging back to Ethereum
Withdrawals from Ronin to Ethereum go through the same CCIP bridge. You sign on Ronin and pay RON gas. Delivery follows CCIP’s finality rules, and the per-token approval tiers apply. The seven-day OP Stack exit you might read about applies to the newly deployed canonical bridge, which users aren’t really using yet. It doesn’t apply to the CCIP Ronin Bridge.
Ronin vs Immutable for bridging game assets
If you play across ecosystems, the other big gaming chain is Immutable. The bridging experience differs in a few ways:
| Ronin | Immutable zkEVM | |
|---|---|---|
| Gas token | RON | IMX |
| Main bridge | Ronin Bridge on Chainlink CCIP | Immutable’s own bridge, in its Hub/Toolkit |
| Headline games | Axie Infinity, Pixels and others | Its own game catalog |
| Wallet | Ronin Wallet | Immutable Passport or EVM wallets |
Game tokens are generally not interchangeable between the two chains. Bridge to whichever chain the game actually runs on. Our Immutable explainer covers that side.
Safety: the 2022 hack and what’s different now
In March 2022, attackers linked by US authorities to North Korea’s Lazarus Group took control of five of the nine validator keys securing the original Ronin bridge. They withdrew about $625 million in ETH and USDC. In August 2024, a separate bug in a bridge upgrade led to roughly $12 million being taken by whitehat MEV bots, who returned it. Today’s bridge relies on Chainlink’s CCIP network instead of a small validator set, adds per-token rate limits, and requires extra approvals for large withdrawals. That’s a real improvement, but it doesn’t remove risk. L2BEAT also flags that Ronin’s L2 contracts can be upgraded with no delay by a joint Ronin and Conduit multisig. Our guide on whether bridging is safe explains how to weigh that, and the crypto bridging hub collects our chain guides.
FAQ
What is the official Ronin bridge?
The official route is the Ronin Bridge. Its validators chose Chainlink CCIP as the canonical cross-chain infrastructure in October 2024, and the legacy bridge was switched off in April 2025. It supports AXS, SLP, PIXEL, YGG, USDC, WETH, WBTC and several other game tokens between Ethereum and Ronin, with Base also listed as a connected chain.
How do I bridge ETH to Ronin?
Connect MetaMask and Ronin Wallet to the Ronin Bridge, choose ETH from Ethereum, approve and send. CCIP delivers once Ethereum reaches finality, usually within tens of minutes. The ETH arrives as WETH on Ronin, which games and the marketplace use. Keep some RON in your wallet, because every Ronin transaction pays gas in RON.
Did Ronin switch gas to ETH after becoming an L2?
No. Ronin migrated to an OP Stack Ethereum layer 2 on 12 May 2026, but RON stayed as the gas token, and L2BEAT lists RON as Ronin’s custom gas token. Addresses, wallets and balances carried over without any user action. Token bridging still runs through the CCIP-based Ronin Bridge.
How do I bridge AXS to Ronin?
Use the Ronin Bridge to move AXS from Ethereum, paying ETH gas and a CCIP fee, or withdraw AXS from an exchange that supports the Ronin network. If you use an exchange, select Ronin as the network, because AXS also exists on other chains. Very large AXS withdrawals face tiered approvals and a 500,000 AXS daily cap.
